Black Anthem: a collection of life experiences highlighting black history and black lives from across the world, including Angela Warren, a DC Metro Area Realtor.
“We know the Black story to be RESILIENT. We recognize the Black spirit as STRONG and POWERFUL. We have been a part of and witnessed Black EXCELLENCE. We want to be a part of that history that honors the legacy and lives of those who are proud to be Black from Scratch.”—Chalet Jean-Baptiste
Angela Warren has worked as a real estate agent in the greater Washington, DC, area for fifteen years. For the past six years, she has worked with Ray Gernhart & Associates, a RE/MAX Executive team, and she’s one of the Mid-Atlantic region’s top producers.
A mutual friend initially referred Angela to Chalet. While pregnant with her first child, Angela worked closely with Chalet to help her find the home of her dreams for her and her three beautiful children. Just after giving birth, Angela had to ensure Chalet found and settled into her new home. Though the process brought some challenges, the end result was an elated Chalet giving her children a home they could call their own. From there, the two women formed a close friendship, and Chalet eventually asked Angela to be included in her latest book honoring black history.
“I think it’s important to be recognized for your accomplishments, and it was great to be mentioned alongside Chalet, the author, who is a mom of three kids and an English professor at Northern Community College. She has an MA in English from Long Island University and an MA in communications from New York Institute of Technology. She is currently working on her doctorate in writing and rhetoric at George Mason University.
“I’m very proud to be aligned with her and the people she’s included in this celebrated coffee table book, which is full of black success stories of wisdom, tenacity, pain, and resilience. These short stories highlight those who battled for civil rights, politicians, people who have had successful marriages, and entrepreneurs. It’s a great conversation piece.”
In the book, Angela shares some of the lessons she’s learned from being bold and taking chances. For example, twenty years ago, she worked for an international law firm and interviewed for a similar job in France at the same company. The outcome was different than expected, but what she discovered about herself in the process was even more valuable than any job offer.
Angela has worked as a real estate agent in this region for fifteen years. Ray Gernhart & Associates recognizes her as one of the top RE/MAX team members in the Mid-Atlantic region. The Washingtonian, Forbes real estate leaders, and RE/MAX all recognize this team as one of the region’s best. Backing this claim up, the team has earned numerous awards.
On a personal level, Angela believes deeply in teaching the importance of strength and individuality.
“Each person is here for a reason. That reason is to take up a place and to make a mark. Dream big, and never take no for an answer,” she says. “As long as you’re trying, you’re living.”
